Meta announced on Monday that it has appointed former Trump advisor Dina Powell McCormick as president and vice chairman of the company. Meta said Powell McCormick will be a member of the company’s management team and will help guide Meta’s overall strategy and execution.
“Dina’s experience at the highest levels of global finance, combined with her deep relationships around the world, makes her uniquely suited to help Meta manage this next phase of growth as the company’s President and Vice Chairman,” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a blog post.
Before joining Meta, Powell McCormick was working as deputy national security advisor to President Donald Trump.
Trump celebrated the news on Truth Social in a post reading: “Congratulations to DINA POWELL MCCORMICK, WHO HAS JUST BEEN NAMED THE NEW PRESIDENT OF META. A great choice by Mark Z!!! She is a fantastic, and very talented, person, who served the Trump Administration with strength and distinction.”
Powell McCormick previously served under Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice during the George W. Bush administration. She also spent 16 years at Goldman Sachs as a partner in senior leadership roles.
Last week, Meta hired Curtis Joseph Mahoney, a former Microsoft legal executive who also served as a deputy U.S. trade representative during Trump’s first term.
