Iran’s state-run Press TV ‌said on Thursday that “one ‍of the country’s most advanced long-range ballistic missile Khorramshahr 4” has been deployed at one of the Revolutionary Guards aerospace underground missile cities.

The Khorramshahr 4 has a ‍range of 2,000 km (1,240 miles) and is ‌capable of carrying a 1,500kg (3,3300lbs) warhead, it added.

State media said: “The operational deployment of ‌the Khorramshahr-4 in missile cities on Wednesday coincides with the announced shift in the armed ‌forces’ doctrine from defensive to offensive and carries ‌a ‌clear message to regional and extra-regional adversaries.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, meanwhile, has ‌departed for the Omani capital Muscat ‍at the head of a diplomatic delegation for nuclear talks with the United States to be held on Friday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman said.

The US and Iran have agreed to hold talks, officials for both sides said, even ‍as they remain at odds over Washington’s insistence that ‍negotiations must include Tehran’s missile arsenal and Iran’s vow to discuss only its nuclear programme.

Iran will engage in the talks “with authority ‍and with the aim of reaching a fair, mutually acceptable and dignified understanding on the nuclear issue”, the spokesman, Esmail Baghaei, said ‌on Thursday.

“We hope the American side will also participate in this process with responsibility, realism and seriousness,” Baghaei added.
