Hong Kong’s weather forecaster reported a minimum temperature of 10.9 degrees Celsius (51.6 Fahrenheit) on Wednesday morning, the lowest so far this winter.
Due to the ongoing influence of a winter monsoon, residents can expect cold mornings through Friday, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.
It said minimum temperatures in urban areas on Wednesday would be around 10 to 11 degrees, while the New Territories might be a few degrees cooler. The maximum temperature during the day was expected to climb to 17 degrees.
“A dry winter monsoon will bring cold and fine weather to Guangdong persistently over the next couple of days. The temperature difference between day and night will be rather large over the region,” the Observatory said.
The cold weather warning, strong monsoon signal and red fire danger warning are currently in force, meaning that the risk of fire is extremely high.
